Manufacturing is at an unprecedented stage in history.  Industry 4.0 - including big data, cloud computing, computer intelligence, and the ongoing manufacturing revolution are changing the way we design, fabricate, and scale for production.

The pace of innovation in the additive market is staggering, but as the past has proven with other manufacturing methods, software is lagging hardware.

As the industry continues to drive towards production level components, software solutions will be integral to additive’s success.

In 3D printing, manufacturing workflows are disconnected from design, separated by what seems like a chasm.

Part geometries are designed and engineered to meet end-use requirements such as stiffness and strength, but the original intent seems to be disregarded once the actual manufacturing ensues.

Slicing software, integral to the operation of every additive manufacturing machine, is entirely disconnected from the initial design requirements.

The number of parameters required by today’s slicers is absolutely staggering, and they can influence how the part will perform in end-use conditions.

Production parts simply cannot be relied upon without extensive testing and iteration between design and build, relying on tribal knowledge and trial and error to achieve production level prints.

As the industry continues to look towards leveraging additive to replace and even enhance traditional manufacturing techniques, we must understand how the process can be tuned to meet the requirements of the end part while maintaining efficiency.

Teton is developing new technology that addresses both the optimization and validation of print parameters while also predicting their impact on the performance of a printed part.

Our intent is to remove the ambiguity and confusion of defining slicing parameters by automating the process and identifying the best potential paths the user can take to make a superior part, faster - a process we refer to as Intelligent Slicing.

Intelligent Slicing will drastically reduce print iterations, taking the guesswork out of the equation – providing an easy, intuitive, and repeatable process to use intent to slice parts for production level requirements – automating the bridge over the chasm of design and manufacturing.
